Under the guidance of artist Eric Johnson, welcome to our immersive 10-week painting course designed to hone your artistic skills from foundational techniques to advanced mastery. Whether you're starting your artistic journey or seeking to refine your craft, Eric Johnson's personalized instruction is tailored to elevate your painting abilities.

What to Expect:
Weekly Online Demonstrations, 60 hours total: Every Sunday, access a comprehensive 6-hour live online demonstration, offering in-depth insights into various techniques and approaches.
High Resolution Recordings- Every demo will be recorded and you will be able to study and re-watch them as much as you’d like.

July 7th: Intro to oil painting- Mixing, transitions, colors
July 14th: Painting form and light effects (portrait features)
July 21st: Grisaille- Mastering Value
July 28th: The wipe-out underpainting and Umbra Layer
August 4th: Styles, materials and methods of old master underpaintings
August 11th: Indirect painting methods 
August 18th: Alla Prima Portrait
August 25th: All About IMPASTO (Creative brushwork)
September 1st: Portrait glazing
September 8th: Portrait final details

Technical Expertise: Benefit from Eric's wealth of experience in direct (alla prima) and indirect painting methods, paint-making, mediums, color mixing, brush handling, impasto, and glazing techniques.

Personalized Guidance: Optional Saturday Critiques ( Limited To 14 Students):
Participate in 1-on-1 critique sessions every Saturday to receive constructive feedback on your work and further enhance your skills. You will option to schedule and receive your critique in the morning or afternoon session. All students are welcome to stay for the entire day to learn from other students critique sessions and will receive 1 critique per session. If you would like to receive 2 critiques please email us.

Currently serving as the principal online atelier program instructor at ARA Boston, he also conducts private online lessons from his well-equipped home studio.
