The written word has shaped history—stories matter!
In this class, students will explore narrative structure, literary devices, descriptive writing, types of conflict, and more. We’ll use engaging methods like reading excerpts, examining historical examples, mapping stories with plot charts, and of course, writing our own work.
Hands-on activities and games will support the lessons—like building marshmallow-and-spaghetti “stories” to illustrate structure, or using story-building decks to spark creativity.
This class welcomes all levels. If writing is a challenge, students can share their ideas through oral storytelling. The goal is to inspire a love of story-making and help students craft strong narratives in a fun, low-pressure environment.

Joe’s classes blend exercise, hands-on learning, and games to inspire a lifelong love of movement. Guided by his motto, “Movement is Medicine,” he believes physical activity strengthens both body and mind, helping kids thrive in all areas of life.
As the founder of Forged & Tempered LLC and a retired peace officer with a wide range of experience, Joe brings energy, expertise, and passion to every class.
