The Sketchbook Project: Faces & Figures

Wednesday Classes | Unavailable

If your child loves drawing faces or characters, this class will help them turn those sketches into expressive works of art.

Students will explore the art of drawing faces and figures — from simple cartoons to realistic portraits. Each week focuses on a new challenge — learning to capture emotion, proportion, and personality through practice and play.

Students will explore projects like the Emotion Grid (mini portraits showing different expressions), Facial Symmetry Drawing, Mood Portraits (exploring light and shadow by drawing a face lit from one side), and Facial Feature Weeks, where we focus on eyes, hair, noses, and ears. We’ll mix in both realistic and cartoon styles, character design, and fun warm-up sketches that help students loosen up and build skill week by week.

As the semester unfolds, students will build their sketchbooks page by page — creating a visual record of their progress and creativity while learning to see and draw with confidence and imagination.
