Duration:1 Day- 6 Hours
Hone your observational skills with this immersive tutorial conducted in graphite. This course introduces the essential aspects drawing sight-size, offering a strong foundation in drawing as a standalone skill while preparing artists for the purposeful and thoughtful application of these techniques as a beginning stage in the process of French academic painting which Bouguereau worked in and taught at his atelier in the 19th century. This is part 1 of a 10 part series where we will delve into the entire process of copying Bouguereau's painting Le Crépuscule seen below.

Course Outline
Sight-Size Measuring & Drawing a Construct/Cartoon- Master the sight-size method to measure proportions accurately. Build the foundation of your drawing with a precise and structured construct. We will be working on a full sized cartoon of the painting. The full-sized cartoon was used to perfect the proportional accuracy of the subject in a manageable dry medium like graphite before transferring it to a oil primed linen.
This is not the painting that we will be copying but this illustration shows the cartoon process.
