Beyond the Pencil: Expanding Your Creative Arsenal

Whether you are a seasoned artist or a newbie, you may wonder how to make your sketches more satisfying, add character and find your unique drawing style. Then this workshop is for you!
When we think about sketching, we think “graphite” or pencil. Right? Wrong! In this workshop we shall step beyond traditional drawing techniques and add color, texture, background, and some abstract elements using a variety of drawing tools far more exciting than good old pencils. You will learn how to use fundamental drawing techniques in a fun and playful way.
On day 1, we shall talk about sketching and basic drawing techniques as well as composition. You will see multiple examples of sketches in different dry media and choose your weapon.
On day 2, we shall refine our drawings and add “a cherry on top”, i.e. color, texture, and imaginary elements.
Supplies:
— drawing pad or sketchbook or any cheap drawing/sketching paper (NOT newsprint);
— pencil (mechanical pencils are ok);
— kneaded eraser and white eraser;
— pencil sharpener/knife, 180 grit sanding paper (you will not need these things if you are using a mechanical pencil);
— additional dry medium/media of your choice (if you don’t have anything, the instructor will have a variety of tools you can try)
