This class will be an open format. Each student can bring an existing project they want input on, or start a new one. Each week will be crits and feedback and discussion depending on each student’s need.

Examples (but not limited to these options!):
- You want to continue working on a bargue drawing or other project from a photo/image reference
- You are starting a new painting and want critiques and feedback as you work on it
- You want to continue to work on a previous master copy started in the indirect painting class
- You are in the middle of a painting and you want direction or troubleshooting a you continue
- Do a series of color studies work on developing a composition of idea for a larger project
- You want to start a drawing with input

If you want to discuss/propose a project ahead of sign up, please contact us. If you are brand new to ARA and this is your first class with us, this would be recommended. Please reach out to us to discuss if you are unsure if your project is appropriate for this type of class.

Julie Beck - Instructor & Assistant Director

Julie Beck is an award winning oil painter specializing in tromp l'oeil, still life, and figurative oil paintings. Julie completed her training at ARA Boston in 2016 and has been teaching here since 2013. Her honors include multiple Gold Medals at the Guild of Boston Artist’s Annual Non-Member Competition, 2016 and 2019 Best in Show for the Richeson Annual Still life and Floral Competition, and has been a finalist in the Art Renewal Center’s Annual Salon 4 years in a row with honorable mentions as well as First Place still life. She was selected to participate in and won third place in the 2017 Still life Painting Competition at the Grand Central Atelier. She is also currently a member at the Saint Botolph Club.
