Introduction to Acrylic Painting for Adults

This introductory course is designed to teach students foundational skills in working with acrylic paint. In this 8 session course, we will focus on techniques including underpainting, glazing, and alla prima while working with still life setups. Assignments are designed to incorporate foundational art principles in order to help students learn how to create visually engaging compositions. If you are looking for the opportunity to work on paint mixing, practice rendering from life, and be in community with others while creating, this is the course for you!

- nylons or Taklon brushes (best for fine detail, flat non textural work, and
blending techniques): (1/8” to 1 1/2” size) and the smaller size for detail. For
example: 1 of each Round 1, Bright 4, Filbert 4, and Flat 6. Round 6, Filbert 6, Bright 8, and Flat 12.

Peyton Bailey
Peyton is an artist from Athens, Georgia. She holds an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Georgia. She uses drawing, painting, and fiber to examine her religious upbringing in the South and the lines that blur between superstition and the secular culture of the region.
