Spouts and Handles

Adult (Ages 16+) | Registration opens 2/4/2026 10:00 AM

This four-week pottery course focuses on the art of handles and spouts. We'll focus on several techniques in a fun, creative atmosphere suitable for all skill levels. Students will explore different methods for pulling, shaping, and attaching handles, as well as building and refining spouts for teapots and pitchers. Weekly demos will highlight important skills, but leave plenty of time for independent practice so  participants can experiment and strengthen their craftsmanship.

Shan Ross is a ceramic artist in Medford, Massachusetts.
Their pottery can be found on hutch shelves and kitchen cabinets around the world. In addition to functional wares, Shan’s artistic work delves into themes of identity, disability, and community. Their art explores how small moments of connection can create meaning.
Currently working towards an MFA at the Massachusetts School of Art and Design, they avoid studying by spending time outdoors, playing in the surf, and hiking in the mountains with their partner Andi.
