Objects as Artistic Exploration

Adult (Ages 16+) | Available (Membership Required)

You have to move, downsize, split up, clear out, sell, but our objects call out: Keep me! This is too sweet-sexy-poignant-delicate-invaluable-to let go! Objects tell us what, where and who we’ve been. They map our life story and tell us what we want to vivify through storytelling, painting, writing, drawing, video and sound. In this class we use our objects (whether actual or facsimile) to ignite our artistic senses to find the forms best suited to them. A father’s journal might suggest a series of drawings, a 5-minute play, or imagined phone call. Through conversations, free-artmaking and creative feedback, we come to understand the hold objects have on us. Through art we see the complex forces of mortality, life review, and forgiveness at play, a point from which letting go of our objects is made more possible. Bring 4 objects to the first meeting and your customary art supplies.
