Functional Dinnerware
Adult (Ages 16+) | Registration closed 9/25/2025
Want to create beautiful, functional ceramic pieces for your home? This course is designed for beginners and intermediate potters alike, Functional Dinnerware focuses on the design and creation of everyday items such as plates, bowls, mugs, serving dishes, and other useful pieces! Through wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, students will focus on integrating form and function. This course will provide demonstrations using the pottery wheel as well as many handbuilding techniques. Choose to focus on one method or both! Students will also gain an understanding of how to design cohesive sets and consider ergonomics, stackability, and usability. Prior wheel experience will be beneficial. Whether you’re looking to outfit your own kitchen with handmade ware or create thoughtful gifts, this class offers a supportive environment to expand your skills and bring functional art to the table.
