Drawing/Painting Portraits for Adults

In-Person: Adult | Registration opens 2/5/2025 10:00 AM

Join us for an exploration into the exciting world of portraiture! Assignments are designed to familiarize a variety of methods for creating effective portraits. Through several projects, students will learn about the history of portraiture and be empowered to apply these skills to their own work. Individual creativity is encouraged. Paintings and drawings will be made from photographs taken by the students, references provided by the teacher, and through observation. Instruction will cover techniques for acrylic paint as well as drawing. Open to artists of all levels and abilities! Tuition includes a figure model for two sessions.

Donahue, Leslie
Leslie Donahue

Leslie Donahue (they/them) is a multimedia artist specializing in both oil and acrylic painting. Born and raised in the California Bay Area, their work moves from figurative, to landscape, to abstract. Specializing in atmospheric, strange scenes imbued with emotion, there is tension between what is revealed to the viewer and what is hidden. Leslie utilizes their skill in printmaking, drawing, and collage to further explore these visual themes. While living and attending Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Leslie has been a part of several gallery shows, including a 2022 “Fresh Faces” exhibition in the SOWA arts district. They currently live in Cambridge with their dog Snoopy.
