Landscape Painting in Watercolor (in person)
Adult (Ages 16+) | This program is completed
Demystify watercolor painting in this fun and supportive studio class! Learn about managing the paint-to-water ratio and enjoy this wonderful medium for creating expressive and evocative paintings. Students will quickly be comfortable with creating value studies in pencil to understand contrast and composition. Then paint a variety of landscapes in watercolor by practicing techniques such as flat wash, dry brush, mixing colors on both the palette and the paper, wet-into-wet, creating effective edges and others. Subjects may include seascapes, mountains, gardens and more. A variety of painting styles will be presented with inspirations from watercolor artists such as John Singer Sargent, Mignonette Yin Cheng, and others. Reference landscapes photos will be provided for each session. Students are also invited to bring photos of their favorite landscapes or travel photos as references. All levels are welcome.
