Drawing the Idea (in person)
Adult (Ages 16+) | This program is completed
Everyone has their own unique way of drawing and creating images, and with some encouragement, can use it as a powerful tool of expression. This class explores how we can translate ideas, concepts, and narratives into images. This is less of a traditional and technical drawing class and more about concepts, materials, and personal expression. We will continuously explore examples of non-traditional drawing throughout art history and pictorial storytelling through mediums such as graphic novels, picture books, and films. With a strong enough idea and an understanding of the basic principles of art such as color and composition, you will be able to create aesthetically pleasing work at any skill level. Classes will often be broken into sections like class warm-up exercises, teacher-led presentations and longer periods devoted to independent student work time. Students will build up a sketchbook of ideas and drawings as well as multiple finished works on paper.
