Start Your Travel Journal: The Art of Anticipation (In-person)

Adult (Ages 16+) | This program is completed

Many studies on contentment say people benefit from anticipating a positive event- such as travel- sometimes enjoying it more than the trip itself! To maximize anticipation, we’ll use the journal as a magnet for ideas, images, wildcard hopes, and plans. To begin, we look at examples of quirky, engaging journals, show our own if we have them, and apply some techniques to designing our own.  We’ll talk about color, simple drawing, page layout, writing styles, fonts and texture, micro-story writing, and more! We’ll practice using our journal design in the days between class meetings, then make journal tweaks in the second class that heighten our awareness of the fullness of each day and provide a format for your journal. And because we could treat every day of life as a “travel” day, this journal method is useful for family/work/life travelers and those in the retirement lanes. No previous art experience needed.
