Indian Folk Art -- Gond Art (In-Person)
Adult (Ages 16+) | This program has been canceled
Indulge yourself in learning and recreating this historic and tribal art form from central India. It is believed that Gond paintings are imitations of cave paintings found in the Mesolithic Period. These have been used by Gond people as a way to record their history as well as decorate their houses with traditional tattoos and motifs. In these paintings, dots and dashes are added to impart a greater sense of movement and increase the amount of detail. Use of bright vivid colors derived from natural resources is another striking facet of Gond paintings. Learn patterns of Gond paintings and create beautiful pictures of birds and animals, using modern day materials.
