Imagine yourself enjoying a cozy morning with loved-ones around a kitchen table, all drinking from a set of hand-thrown mugs that you made! The focus of this workshop is to develop control on the wheel and learn techniques for making repeatable shapes. Students will work towards making a set of uniform mugs. Beginners and experienced potters are welcome!


  • COVID Requirements

    Based on current guidance from the Arlington Department of Health, CDC, and other local and national public health agencies, Arlington Center for the Arts (ACA) will no longer require proof of COVID vaccinations for participation in our programs, including classes, camps, exhibits, performances, and events. While masks continue to be optional at ACA, they are strongly recommended, and we encourage everyone to review current masking recommendations from the CDC to inform their personal choices.


    ACA is aware that public health guidance re: COVID-19 continues to change and evolve – all current policies are subject to change, in order to best align with current guidance and to preserve the safety of all of our constituents. Please be on the lookout for updated policies and protocols moving forward.

In registering for an ACA program, you acknowledge that ACA has permission to email you with important updates, as well as information about upcoming events, programs and exhibition opportunities.   • Registration includes clay, firing, and glazing for the class.

    Instructor will discuss materials on the first day of class. You are welcome to buy your own tools or use our communal supplies. 
Supawanich, Fern

Fern Supawanich (she/her/hers) is a studio potter in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  She has a BS/MS in Materials Engineering and first started taking ceramics art classes to explore the craft of working with materials in addition to science.  After 25 years, her love of ceramics continues today making functional pottery primarily on the wheel.
