Gouache is Great!: an Introductory Workshop (In-Person)
Adult Workshop (Age 16+) | This program has been canceled
Give gouache on panel a try! Working from observation, explore the medium of gouache – a non-toxic, opaque watercolor. It provides rich, matte color that can be used in a range of applications from thin and semi-transparent to many opaque layers. Build a still life painting from observation, starting with thumbnail sketches for composition, and then layer color and mark. We’ll provide the paint and panel!
- ACA supplies gouache paint for use in class and 1 panel.
Students bring: Metal, ceramic or plastic palette/plate/butcher tray, preferably white, with enough area to put out a palette of 12 colors, and an area to mix paint. Brushes: at least 3 different-sized round watercolor brushes – small, medium and large (i.e. synthetic sable, sizes 2, 4 or 5 and 8,10 or 12) #2 pencil or B to 2B drawing pencil, eraser, paper for thumbnail sketches A still life object(s) of interest (fruits, vegetables or leaves/plant life; vases, cups, or bowls; or any object(s) with interesting color/shape)
