Join us to discover the nocturnal landscape and learn how to make ethereal night images possible. We’ll discuss equipment, exposure, how to photograph in a variety of night environments, post-processing and more. This course will consist of an introduction, slide presentations, field demonstrations/practice, voluntary homework assignments and feedback in a relaxed small group setting. We will spend time outdoors at nearby locations for demonstrations and field practice sessions, so please dress accordingly!

  • Please bring your DSLR, Mirrorless or Advanced Point & Shoot camera, user manual, a sturdy tripod and remote release (if you have one). Students are also encouraged to be familiar with the manual operation of their camera. Also recommended are the Adobe Lightroom App for mobile devices (free) and/or the 7-day Lightroom trial for laptops or desktops.

Doug is a photographer based in Arlington, who studied at the College of Art and Design at Lesley University. Natural and urban landscapes are the focus of his work, particularly after dark. Straddling the boundary between conceptual and documentary, impermanence and mystery are important elements that inform his work. Long-exposure, atmosphere, minimalism and the ethereal characterize his aesthetic. Examples of his work may be viewed at douglasseigars.com.
