Learn how to translate the often overwhelming complexity of a landscape into a coherent statement. The class will focus on simplifying a landscape, selecting /recognizing elements that make a strong composition, and understanding the difference between a shape, a value and a color We'll also learn how to use color effectively by learning about color relationships, mixing colors and different color schemes and choices. Students will work from photos.
Additionally, our class will venture to the Museum of Fine Arts to study the masters. This will allow students to see techniques learned in class in finished paintings and then take this new knowledge back into the classroom.
