Paint a Silk Scarf in a Day!

Paint a silk scarf using dyes for silk with a brush and explore the effects of salt and alcohol when placed on wet dyes as it creates beautiful starburst effects and dynamic patterns. Practice simple resist techniques to control the flow of wet dyes and make marks using rubber stamps and simple mono printing techniques. Each student will take home a beautiful, unique silk scarf.

Nicole (duplcate) Donson
Nicole Donson is a multi-talented teacher and artist. She creates one of a kind colorfast hand-painted silk scarves, garments, and wall hangings sold at local craft galleries and at juried craft fairs throughout New England. Nicole has been teaching adults and children at a variety of community education programs and after school programs for more than ten years. She worked for the Cabot After School Program in Newtonville for many years and was lead art teacher at the Thompson After School Program for three years and developed the art curriculum for elementary school aged children. Nicole has studied with innovative silk painters throughout the United States in the course of her career and has has studio space at Gorse Mill Studios in Needham, MA.
