Night Photography

4 Fridays, 7:30 - 10:00 pm
Join us for a nocturnal exploration and shed light on the techniques that make ethereal night images possible. The class will consist of an introduction, slideshows, field demonstrations/practice, voluntary homework assignments and feedback. This class will spend time outdoors at nearby locations for demonstrations and practice of the techniques of night photography.
Please note that the class will spend time shooting outdoors each week, please dress accordingly!
- Students should bring DSLRs, mirrorless cameras or cameras with manual controls, a sturdy tripod and are encouraged to be familiar with the manual operation of their camera. Also suggested are the Adobe Lightroom App for mobile devices (free) and/or or the 7-day Lightroom trial for laptops or desktops.
Douglas Seigars
Doug is a photographer based in Arlington, who studied at the College of Art and Design at Lesley University. Natural and urban landscapes are the focus of his work, particularly after dark. Straddling the boundary between conceptual and documentary, impermanence and mystery are important elements that inform his work. Long-exposure, atmosphere, minimalism and the ethereal characterize his aesthetic. Examples of his work may be viewed at douglasseigars.com.
