Do you have a personal story to tell? An anecdote that you'd like to share? Would you like to see your byline in print? This one-day workshop will explore the personal essay. We'll look at how to grab the reader's attention, how to strengthen your prose and how to tell a story in 500 words. It's cheaper than therapy and more productive than bingewatching Netflix. What's your story?
- Students: bring a laptop or pad of paper and pencil or pen and an idea.
- Optional: Bring a favorite piece of writing by you or anyone
Carol Band
Carol Band is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in The Boston Globe, AARP magazine and in parenting publications across the country. She has authored a syndicated humor column and worked as a reporter, editor and advertising copywriter. She lives in Arlington where she writes everything from taglines to Tweets.
