Batik Workshop

In this workshop, students will learn traditional methods of batik painting. Using hot wax, metal dripping tools, and dyes, everyone will design and create their own batik silk painting. Throughout the session, several other experimental techniques will be taught, and students will work with an array of colored dyes create gorgeous batiks. By the end of the workshop, each student will have made their own 2x3 foot design on a piece of Hanoi silk to take home.
- Supply fee of $25 payable to the instructor at the workshop. Fee includes dyes, wax, silk fabric, and use of all tools and specialty equipment.
Natalie Behnke
Natalie Behnke holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and Philosophy from Skidmore College. Natalie has worked in a range of media and her primary concentration as an artist is in drawing and painting (particularly water-based media painting). Over the course of her professional history, Natalie has come to learn that teaching and educating these skills is the most rewarding way that she can apply them in her local communities.
