This class will focus on the direct approach to painting the figure from life. Great class for all levels of painters.

  • Painting Grounds (Preferred Brand: Fredrix)
  • 9”x12” to 16”x20” (Please stay within these size perimeters.)
  • Canvas: Fredrix prestretched canvas: red or green label
  • Panels: Fredrix archieval canvas panels
  • Brushes (Preferred Brands: Robert Simmons Signet Bristles and Langnickel Sables)
  • An assortment of rounds, filberts and flats in sable and bristle.
  • Below is an assortment of recommended sizes in bristles and sables.
  • (Note: It is not necessary to have all of these sizes but a good idea to work towards getting them.)
  • Bristles (Robert Simmons):
  • Filberts 2, 4, 6, 8
  • Flats 2, 4, 6, 8
  • Rounds 0, 1, 2, 4, 6
  • Sables (Langnickel if possible, other brands are fine as well):

  • Cleaning Solvent: Gamsol Oderless Mineral Spirits by Gamblin
  • Solvent container

  • Note: Freezer paper is another option.
