Digital Sketchbooking: Exploring Portraits

At its core, this class will focus on sketching the head in digital. We will focus on stylized techniques as well as more structured approaches. This class is great for anyone looking to develop a stronger style, explore different style and of course learn practical tips for the medium of digital!
We will cover these concepts throughout the course of the class:
- Simulating loose pencil sketching
- Loose linework vs clean linework techniques
- Value blockouts and planar understanding
- Painted and colored sketches
- Rendering practice
- Studies of facial features in a variety of styles
- Exploring several styles: Linework - Painted - Loose Sketches - Tight Sketches
- Please come into class with a decent understanding of your tablet and how to use it already. If you're new, that's okay, just watch a few tutorials first! There are plenty on YouTube for any setup you have.

Travis Wilson
Travis Wilson moved to California to attend Watts Atelier at the beginning of 2018, studying with the Online Program before that. For the past five years he has worked towards his goal of teaching and working as a professional artist. On top of being a student and now a teacher, Travis also assists in running the behind the scenes of the Atelier. Finding much interest in design and sketching, Travis seeks to help others learn about how to bridge the gap between academics and creativity.
