Constructive Figure Drawing
Class | Available
This class will focus on "applied anatomy" or the concept of using practical anatomical knowledge to construct, design, and render the human figure in a naturalistic manner. In the study of artist anatomy the emphasis is too often placed on memorization of data, and not on the practical application of this knowledge. Over the duration of this class we will learn to analyze, and interpret the figure from a more intuitive approach. Anatomy should not be used to override what we are seeing, but to better understand what we are seeing. Each week will center around a different part of the body and how it is constructed from a functional and aesthetic standpoint. No prior anatomical knowledge is necessary.
- This class will use charcoal drawing materials.

Travis Wilson
Travis Wilson moved to California to attend Watts Atelier at the beginning of 2018, studying with the Online Program before that. For the past five years he has worked towards his goal of teaching and working as a professional artist. On top of being a student and now a teacher, Travis also assists in running the behind the scenes of the Atelier. Finding much interest in design and sketching, Travis seeks to help others learn about how to bridge the gap between academics and creativity.
