Costume Figure Drawing from Photos: 5 Week Pose

Students will spend 5 weeks on methodical renderings of the costumed model from reference.
We will set up accurate lay-ins based on thumbnail sketches of the pose. Students will be introduced to various methods of finish and calligraphy and will be encouraged to explore alternative surfaces and drawing implements to our usual method.
This class will be focused on attaining a well designed representation of the model through the use of shape, value and edge.
Jim Hahn
Jim has studied at Watts Atelier since 2004. He is currently one of a handful of artists in the student teacher program who is working towards a full-time career as an artist and teacher. He has worked in the sign and outdoor advertising industry for more than 25 years as a journeyman painter and graphic designer. Jim has done a number of large commissioned murals including the one that currently displays above the entrance to to our own San Diego Zoo.
