Constructive Wildlife Drawing in Charcoal

Class | FULL

This course will cover the basic fundamentals of animal drawing, focusing on the underlying construction of the animal form. Utilizing a series of construction forms and rhythms based on animal anatomy, students will learn how the quadred form functions. Students will work to understand and memorize these underlying construction forms and learn how to alter them to help them draw a range of different species, from prey species to predatory species. Photo reference and instructor handouts will be given each class top assist the student in their exercises

    Tom will be gone for the week 4 class on 4/2/25. 

    As a result, a class will be added into the break week.

Babbey, Tom
Tom Babbey

Tom Babbey has studied at the Watts Atelier for over a decade, and has taught at the atelier for nearly as long. As an avid naturalist, Tom's love for wildlife led him to discover his passion for animal art and creature design at an early age. Tom currently works as a freelance illustrator and concept artist for clients such as Wizards of the Coast, Paizo Publishing, Wizkids, Cubicle 7, Fantasy Flight Games, Sony Online, and Griffin Road Games, and is the lead Art Director for Draco Studios “Dragonbond’ setting.
