Studio Painting: Still Life
Class | Registration opens 12/30/2024 9:00 AM PST
This class will focus on the creation of a studio still life painting. We will be painting from both photos and life. The first week, we will set up a still life with both living and inanimate components. We will photograph the living parts to use as a supplement in the later weeks. The main focus of this class will be upon how to develop the textures and patinas of objects when we have a long time to work from our reference. This involves rendering and layering in paint in a different way than we normally paint wet-into-wet in the classroom. This class encompasses essential skills that an artist must know to make their objects in their scenes feel believable and understand techniques to develop texture.
- Please bring your supplies and a camera (phone okay) for the first week of class.
- This class will use oil painting materials.
For the best results in this class, consider using the Warm/Cool Primary palette to increase your color range. Zorn palette not recommended
