This class will introduce new students to quicksketch. Quicksketch (also called gesture drawing) is a core part of Watts Atelier's artistic training. This class will focus mostly on drawing from handouts and doing studies from other artists to study the basics of quicksketch. In the last couple weeks, the class will utilize 3, 5 and 7 minute poses from the model as well as photo work to develop spontaneity and accuracy. Using a rhythmical grid known as the “Abstraction,” we will encourage students to work on gesture, proportion, figure design, and calligraphy.
