In this class we will explore many different artists, from old masters to contemporary ones. Each week we will explore how each of these master painters uses value, shape, and color to compose their images. Doing gouache thumbnails in 1-2hr increments will help us understand the general foundation into what makes their work so compelling. The focus will be on establishing mood, lighting, and textures through short-hand indications. If you've never worked in gouache that is OK. There will be frequent instructor demonstrations.
