Try-It! classes are designed to give you the chance to experience the Teaching Artist & the class with ease! All materials are provided by The Drawing Studio, all you need to do is show up!

In this class, we will explore the art of painting abstract compositions. We will discuss the parameters of an abstract painting and its various styles of execution.

Furthermore, we will add the elements of botanical designs to our abstract composition, giving it a unique perspective and vibe.

  • **ALL MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE DRAWING STUDIO.**
  • If you WANT to buy your own supplies, the Teaching Artist recommends the following:
  • Tubes of oil paint (37ml size tubes):
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Cadmium Red
  • Cadmium Yellow
  • Titanium White
  • and Burnt Umber
  • Paint Brushes:
  • #2 Filbert synthetic Oil Paint Brush (long handle)
  • #4 Filbert synthetic Oil Paint Brush (long handle)
  • Pencil: #6H grade pencil
  • Canvas: Size: 16 x 20 inches)
  • Additional Materials:
  • Cotton Rags (for cleaning brushes/old towels, for example)
  • Any small glass jar with cover (a clean, glass food jar, for example)
  • Bottle of standard Baby Oil (this is mineral oil for cleaning brushes)
