Basic aspects of Sumi-e painting are its simplicity and meditative quality.

Students learn traditional brushstrokes used in the Asian art of Sumi-e Brush Painting. Brushstrokes are arranged together in a composition of either Plant, Animal or Landscape subject matter.

  • 2 oz bottle Yasutomo Sumi-e ink
  • Bamboo Brush (Princeton L)
  • Sumi Sketch rice paper 12” x 18”
  • Water can/ Paint rag
  • Three 4 oz. covered containers
  • Black Drop cloth 18”x24” (provided by teacher $3.00)
