Sketchbooks are storehouses for observation, new ideas, and memory. In this class, we'll practice practical approaches for keeping our sketchbooks alive and thriving even in the busiest of times. A series of outdoor painting classes with fun, adventurous exercises will awaken our sense of curiosity and playfulness. All mediums are welcome. If you're not sure what to use, ink and/or watercolor are always excellent sketchbook choices. Take the entire series or pick and choose.

  • Section A meets at Community Garden.
  • Discount available if all 3 sections are registered for as a "bundle".
  • Note: participants may choose the medium(s) of their choice. But if they don’t already have something in mind, they can use the below list:
  • transportable watercolor kit/set
  • Pilot ink pen or other ink pen of your choice
  • cup for water
  • small and medium round and flat brushes (I have a size 8 or medium round brush and I take just the one with me for outdoor painting-you can do a lot with one brush!)
  • rag for wiping brushes
  • water
  • pencil and eraser (kneaded eraser recommended)
  • pencil sharpener
  • watercolor sketchbook with hard backing or loose watercolor papers with clipboard
