Beat the heat and take an artistic adventure into the Santa Catalina Mountains! We'll use water-soluble ink pens and white pastel to capture some of the more challenging textures of nature, including bark and water. Bring a sack lunch. Coronado National Forest pass required per car. Car-pooling is an option!

  • Watercolor paper (140 lbs or greater)
  • white pastel or white colored pencil (or both if you want to try both)
  • Pilot Precise V5 pen (available at Office Depot or Target)
  • cup for water
  • a medium-sized, soft-hair round and flat brush
  • clipboard or other hard backing (it may be built into your sketchbook)
  • graphite pencils and kneaded eraser
  • water bottle for storing painting water
  • snacks, sunscreen, drinking water
  • a blanket or folding chair to sit on
