Sketchbooks are portals to possibilities. We can be detached from outcomes and explore new approaches to art-making. We'll use sketchbooks as a tool for inspiration, gleaning ideas from the world around us, as we experiment with watercolor and ink. A series of fun, playful exercises will help us develop and explore ideas that could blossom into full scale paintings and drawings.

  • Watercolor sketchbook or loose watercolor papers (140 lbs or more)
  • Your choice of artist or student grade watercolors.
  • If you choose student grade, I recommend the brand Prang, 16 cakes in a set
  • If you choose artist grade, I recommend these tubes in the brands Winsor and Newton or Grumbacher: alizarin crimson, aureolin yellow, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, burnt sienna, burnt umber, yellow ochre, hooker's green, thalo blue, thalo green
