This is the first week of a two-week figure drawing and painting workshop. Artists can sign up for 1 or both weeks. 

The week will begin with shorter figure studies to demonstrate the best techniques for blocking in a figure painting. We’ll follow a gestural block-in approach, combining it with strong structural and anatomical landmarks to create a solid foundation for the painting. These initial sketches will be fast and loose, gradually developing into more refined drawings over the first few days. By the end of the first week, we’ll introduce painting procedures. The process is similar to charcoal, but with the added challenge of using paint. Grisaille block-ins will also start loose and gestural before we add strong structural information to secure the pose.
