This course is an exploratory and studio-driven class which will discuss the notion of painting during the Renaissance as a scholarly act. Artists in the 15th and 16th century often carried with them a myriad of other disciplines from literature to science into the studio. Starting from the conceptual narrative to the finished painting, students will learn all the measures taken to create a painting using traditional Renaissance tools and processes.
