This week introduces the figure in color. The week will start with color studies of boxes and other simple objects. Students will also work on color studies of the human figure. Students will receive one-on-one critiques by the instructor. Demonstrations will be conducted by the instructor to illustrate the impact of light on forms and how the temperature of the light affects the local colors perceived.

Monday

This first day will be devoted to the introduction of light on form, and how the temperature of the light affects local colors. The first day will be spent on color studies of simple shapes, such as colored boxes, and other simple still life objects.

Tuesday

The second day will build on the first day by doing short simple color studies of the human figure. There will be a succession of hour long poses in the morning, followed by a three hour pose in the afternoon.

Wednesday

This day will follow the previous day with another three hour pose in the morning. After lunch a 2 ½ day pose will start. The student will first do a short impact color study. The painting will then start with an accurate study of the figure in the grisaille method used at Studio Incamminati.

Thursday

The start of the painting from the day before will be re-examined for accuracy, and then the initial color placement of the simple masses of light and shadow will be introduced. Once the masses of light and shadow are correctly described on the canvas, the student will start to break down the forms into related areas of color that describe the forms on the human figure.

Friday

The final day of this workshop will focus on further description of the human form described with color using the Studio Incamminati palette.
