Stewart Beach is a popular destination for tourists. As opposed to beaches farther west, the beach at Stewart is getting wider by about 12 feet per year. Although thousands of tourists frequent the beach, the ongoing accretion of sand continues to support healthy dune and marsh habitats for native plants, animals and birds. Stewart Beach might become, like East End Lagoon, a good resource for environmental education. (Limit 35)
