Class | Registration opens 8/11/2026 8:00 AM CDT
Although the U.S. sent its first combat troops into Vietnam in 1965, the nation’s involvement there began some two decades earlier. This lecture will explain the policies whereby the U.S. drew more and more deeply into Vietnam, beginning shortly after the end of World War II. The talk will be organized around the ways that six successive U.S. presidents grappled with how to manage Southeast Asia in the context of the Cold War. (Limit 40)
