The History of Immigration to the United States Part I - 1882 to 1965

This lecture will trace the beginnings of immigration restriction, starting with the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. The effects of both world wars on immigration policy will also be covered, concluding with how and why Congress and President Lyndon B. Johnson ended a quota system early in his presidency.
