The Battle of Hastings 1066

Class | Registration opens 12/8/2025 9:00 AM CST

This presentation will summarize the events leading up to the epic battle between the challengers to the throne of England, King Harald Hardrada of Norway, and Duke William of Normandy, against the reigning King of England, Harold Godwinson. Preparatory events include King Harold’s victory against Harald Hardrata at Samford Bridge, his 200-mile march south to confront a second invasion from Normandy. His disastrous Battle against the Normans at Hastings resulted in the end of Anglo-Saxon rule in England and the beginning of the harsh and trouble-filled Norman/Plantagenet dynasty that ruled from 1066 until 1385.
