Learn the basics of how to use a metal detector as a hobby for fun and exercise. Explore the mystery of finding in the soil or sand, buried hidden objects that have been lost in time. Recover what may have been lost in a backyard, the beach, or in the ocean. This presentation will begin with a brief history of metal detecting (a very unlikely beginning!). It will describe terminology, equipment, and basic methods of detecting. The presentation style will be anecdotal from two detectorists, one new to the hobby and the other a long-time participant. Metal detectors will be on hand to demonstrate their operation, along with some of the interesting finds discovered over recent months. (Limit 35)
