October 29: The Orphanages of Galveston

Galveston is home to many orphanages; this session will focus on the early leading orphanages of Galveston (The Galveston Orphans’ home and St. Mary’s orphan asylum).


November 5: Women’s Suffrage and the Women who led it in Galveston

Galveston was a leader in the early suffrage movement of Texas. Meet the women behind the movement.

November 12: The Curious Case of May Walker Burleson

May Walker Burleson was a leader in the Women’s movement before it all went south. She was convicted of murder in 1940. A sad case and the loss of a socialite.
