Class | Available (Membership Required)
The American “Industrial Revolution” produced profound changes around the turn of the 20th century, as capital-fueled manufacturing spawned the growth of cities in what heretofore had been a predominantly rural, agricultural nation. The new challenges brought on by urbanization and manufacturing triggered a reform movement during what is now called the Progressive Era in U.S. history. In this lecture, you will learn about what American activists and institutions did to try to mitigate the negative effects of the Industrial Revolution. (Limit 40)
