Hurricanes in the Oleander City

Seminar | Registration opens 5/12/2025 8:00 AM CDT

The City of Galveston is a place steeped in rich history. But a historical analysis of the city would be incomplete without mention of the scores of hurricanes and tropical storms that have roared ashore along the Upper Texas Gulf Coast since the city was chartered in 1839.

Some of the more impactful storms were not mere weather events but historical events for the city and its surroundings. In addition, Galveston’s position on the Gulf Coast makes future historical hurricane events inevitable. In this presentation, we will discuss the hurricanes of Galveston’s past and how one can prepare for the hurricanes of Galveston’s future. We will also talk about the outlook for the 2025 season and resources containing the latest tropical weather information. (Limit 35)
