Professor Greg Gray of UTMB One Health Laboratory will discuss the nature of influenza viruses, how they have spilled over from animals to infect humans, and what we are doing to reduce their risk of causing more disease in US livestock and humans. In particular, Dr. Gray will mention the recent increases in animal and human infections with highly pathogenic avian H5N1 influenza A viruses.
