In this presentation, attendees will learn about the various aspects of jury service, including its foundations in the United States and Texas Constitutions. They will learn about the qualifications for jury service, and the exemptions from jury service. The concept of civic duty will be discussed. Participants will also be asked to consider the constitutional guarantees of having a jury of one’s peers, and a jury that is fair and impartial, and why those elements are significant. Participants will be able to view an actual jury summons. (Limit 35)
