Wilderness Survival and Essential Outdoor Skills
Class: Repeats in Spring | Registration opens Saturday, August 29, 2026 9:30 AM MDT
In this 8-week course, we will cover the priorities of survival and how to address each priority. This will allow you to survive an unplanned overnight (or 3) in the wilderness. Learning how to signal and contact Search and Rescue is an essential skill that is also covered in this program. Other essential outdoor skills will include things such as basic first aid, essential knots, making cordage from plants and touching on a few primitive skills such as making fire by rubbing sticks together. Field trips may be planned.
This class is perfect for lifelong learners seeking confidence and self-reliance. Outdoor recreationists such as hikers, backpackers, campers, anglers, and hunters all need essential skills for handling unexpected situations. Travelers and adventurers who love to explore remote regions will also benefit from knowing how to stay safe and resourceful.
